In support of Earth Day on 22 April, Osdam Eco Facility donated 60 bags of compost to the Mosselbank River Conservation Team (MRCT) for their Earth Day Tree Planting Marathon, held on 18 April. 🌳

This event formed part of a project to rehabilitate the Mosselbank River's wetlands. This river is an important ecosystem supporting local wildlife and the community of Fisantekraal, and is also a non-perennial tributary to the Diep River.

The Mosselbank River have faced many challenges over time, including pollution, erosion and invasive plants. The benefits of planting indigenous trees along the riverbanks increases biodiversity, aids climate resilience and enhanced the wellbeing of the Fisantekraal community.

On Saturday, the MRCT's goal was to plant 100 trees along the riverbank in one day but they far exceeded this goal. In total, 135 trees and 200 wetland and dryland indigenous plants were planted. 🌱
